  • Basic Barbering

     

    Basic Barbering (BAR100) Course Length: 1100 Hours

     

    The primary purpose of this Barber course is to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain a license and competency in the field of Barbering.

     

    The curriculum of Beyond Beauty Academy provides a complete course of study in the barbering culture. Theory instruction includes audio visual aids, lecture platform demonstrations and textbook assignments. In all classes, the principles are tested and perfected by the student in practical classroom activities. Practical training includes supervised performance on clinic patrons and practice mannequins .

     

    Objectives: Upon completion of the course requirements, the deter-mined graduate will be able to:

     

    Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal self-confidence and integrity.

    Practice effective communication skills, visual poise and proper grooming.

    Respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received in a business relationship.

    Perform basic manipulative skills in the area of barbering.

    Apply learned theory, technical information, and related matter for sound judgment decisions and procedures.

    All graduating students will satisfy the requirement for the DPOR certification. Students who have graduated will be able to sit for the state licensure exam.

     

    The total hour requirement must be met by each student in each category in order for the earned hours to be accepted by the state licensing board for examination. The generous portion of miscellaneous hours is to be applied as needed in curriculum-related areas or if the student desires to specialize in a specific area.

    Basic Cosmetology (COS100) Course Length: 1500 Hours

     

    Our Basic Cosmetology course incorporates 1,500 hours of extensive learning and hands-on training to provide you a complete understanding of beauty and wellness. Our courses use lectures, demonstrations and student participation to help demonstrate your competency in cosmetology theory and practice through mannequin repetitions and salon activities. Our instruction will be supplemented with visual aids, student exercises, student presentation and other instructional techniques. An important part of our educational program is to also prepare you with behavioral and people skill concepts such as attitude, communication, salesmanship, success psychology, job readiness and professionalism.

  • Basic Esthetics

    Basic Esthetics (EST100) Course Length: 600 Hours

     

    Students in the Esthetician course will be trained in the basic manipulative skills to perform facials, waxing, hair removal and other skin care treatments. Students will develop safety judgements, proper work habits and desirable attitudes necessary to pass the State Board examination for competency and to maintain employment in the Esthetician field. Student will learn all techniques through classroom and clinic experience. A typical day will consist of a combination of theory, practical and clinical experiences. The course is fast-paced, giving you a lot of information up to 18 weeks.

  • Basic Makeup Artist

    Course - 75 Hours

     

    The primary purpose of the makeup artist course is to train the students to choose makeup colors to complement each client’s skin tones, facial features and more. Through hands-on training, the students will gain the techniques and confidence to apply colors, tones and shades that suit any client perfectly. Each student will be able to learn information and techniques within the course to include some of the latest trends with integrated demonstrations and hands-on student practice.

     

     

     

    Objectives: Upon completion of the course requirement, the student will be trained in makeup artistry and beautification of the face preparing the student to be considered a professional Makeup Artist. Beyond Beauty Academy will instruct the student in all phases of makeup, care of the skin, sanitation as well as to develop professional work habits and attitudes necessary to acquire and maintain employment.   • Bacis Nail Technician

    Basic Nail Technician (NT100) Course Length: 150 Hours

     

    Beyond Beauty Academy will instruct the students in all phases of artificial nails, manicuring, pedicuring, sanitation, as well as to develop professional work habits and attitudes necessary to acquire and maintain employment in the field as a Nail Technician. Students will learn all techniques through classroom and clinic experience. A typical day will consist of a combination of theory, practical, and clinical experiences. This course is fast-paced, giving you a lot of information in a short period of time.

     

     

    Students begin the program as Junior Nail Technology students. Once a student has acquired 50 hours, he/she may begin performing basic services on clients. Tests are given at the end of each chapter. Students are tested on practical skills as well as theory. Tests are primarily multiple choice as it corresponds with the State Board of Cosmetology test. Theory is taught through a combination of lectures, handouts, videos, workbooks and reading. Practicals are taught through demonstrations, lectures and hands on practice.

  • State Board Prep Program

    Course Length: 4 hours

     

    The State Board Prep course is a one-day course to prepare the student for the State Board test. The typical student for this course will have either completed a Cosmetology program or Instructor program, but did not take the exam immediately after completing the program. This course will prepare the student in a brief review of the program they originally completed and provide a practice exam the student will face when taking the State Board. This course is fast-paced, giving you a lot of information in an extremely short period of time.

     

    Graduation and Certification Requirements

    In order to graduate a student must:

    Complete all program clock hour requirements, including:

    All academic coursework and tests, achieving a minimum average of at least 75%;

    Documented clinical services to meet minimum program requirements, as well as;

    Documented clinical services to fulfill requirements for missed classroom hours;

    Returned all borrowed BBA books and equipment;

    Completed all enrollment file information and forms;

    Paid all tuition and fees in full;

    Completed all required work study requirements.

    Upon completing the course and becoming certified as a registered professional, the graduate will qualify to operate an independent salon or work in a salon operated by someone else.

     

    Diplomas

    A certificate will be awarded to a student upon fulfillment of the student’s enrolled course requirements, the required number of mandated clock hours and full tuition payment. The diploma may be withheld from any qualified student who is in arrears in the payment of fees.

     

    Academic Honors

    A student with an average score of 95% or greater has achieved High Honors. A student with a score between 90% - 94% has achieved Honors.

     

    Employment Assistance

    While the Beyond Beauty Academy cannot guarantee employment for its graduates, we have a great working relationship with many spas and salons in our area. A listing of job opportunities will be posted on the bulletin board in the school. Every effort will be made to keep this listing up-to-date, and we will assist in every way we can to help our students obtain employment.

     

    BBA encourages students to maintain satisfactory attendance, excel in their studies, as well as follow a code of conduct so they may be viewed favorably by prospective employers.

     

     

    The curriculum includes classes on writing a resume, salon management and public relations that enables the graduating student the opportunity to achieve the type of salon setting that is best suited to meet their goals. Students who graduate from BBA will be successful in obtaining employment.
